User Groups

Before setting groups, you need to have added some individual users and their passwords in the Users screen.

You assign a user to a group, then assign that group access levels, e.g. make a group for manager, and a group for sales people who need access to different parts of the program.

Members

1. Add add a group name.
(Upgrading from previous versions will show a group for each access level you had set, e.g. level 2, level 9 etc.)

2. Highlight a group and click the Members button.
(There is always a group for Everyone where you cannot customise which users belong to the group.)

3. The list of all users is shown on the left and you need to add the required members into the group on the right.

4. Click on a name and click Add -> to move the name across.

5. Click update_small Update when you have completed setting the group members.

Access

If left unset the group 'Everyone' will have access to all features, meaning that all users will be able to access all areas of the program.

1. Highlight a group name and click the Access button.

2. All program options are shown on the left, and you need to move those areas that members of this group should be able to access. E.g a sales person would need to work with all features on the customer screen and add and edit quotes but not access invoicing or purchase ordering features.

3. Click on a feature and click Add -> to add it to the group's access.

4. Repeat for all the required features.
Tip: Consider adding all and then selectively removing some, which may be quicker.

Click update_small Update when finished to save and close the window.

Restart EQ for the new security settings to take effect when the user(s) next log in.

Users

Click this button to take a shortcut to the Users screen where you can add and delete users and access additional user information.

Import

This option is for use by EQ support and training consultants. It provides the ability to import a pre-defined set of user groups with their respective permissions so can save time compared to setting up all user groups from the beginning.
